Oppo is all set to launch its R17 Pro New Year Edition next week. Chinese smartphone maker confirmed that it has scheduled Oppo R17 and R17 Pro New Year Edition launch event for December 17. Oppo R17 and R17 Pro are already retailing in the global market.
As far as the New Year Edition is concerned, there is no clarity on differences in terms of the overall features and hardware specs. However, Oppo is reportedly accepting registrations via JD.com. At the time of writing this, there’s no information related to the R17 duo’s price and availability.
Launching the New Year Edition is not entirely new for Oppo. In fact, the company had announced Oppo R11s Star Screen New Year Edition in the last week of last year. Although it came in with the similar set of features and hardware specifications, it featured an 18k gold-plated Lucky Dog zodiac symbol on the back of the handset.
It also had red hues on the icons and design elements of the ColorOS UI to better align with the red colour design on the rear. As a result, we can expect Oppo R17 and R17 Pro New Year editions to run a custom skin, in addition to some new design elements. Oppo R17 and R17 Pro New Year editions are likely to include high-end specs.
Earlier this month, Oppo unveiled Oppo R17 and R17 Pro in India featuring waterdrop notch design and in-display fingerprint reader. Oppo R17 Pro sports a 6.4-inch 1080p AMOLED screen on the front, resulting in 402 pixels per inch (ppi) density. Inside is Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor coupled with Adreno 616 GPU for graphics.
Oppo R17 Pro flaunts a gradient spraying all over the back. The handset weighs 183 g and measures 7.9 mm in thickness. The phone supports Super VOOC fast charging. As for the camera specs, it houses 12MP + 20MP + 3D TOF triple rear cameras. Up front is a 25MP selfie camera.
Oppo R17 Pro runs Android Oreo with Oppo’s ColourOS skin on top. The standard set of connectivity options include Wi-Fi (dual-band), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, OTG, Type-C. It packs in a 3,700mAh battery.
