Oppo will launch the Reno and Reno 10x Zoom Edition phones in India on May 28, according to a new report. The report, that cites a teaser poster from a retail chain source, suggests Oppo may be looking to target the upper mid-range segment with its upcoming Reno series. Because nothing of this is official for now, we suggest you take this piece of information with a pinch of salt though.

The Reno and Reno 10x Zoom Edition are unique smartphones – while the former is a mid-tier phone, the latter is a full-fledged flagship. That said, both the phones have many things in common, including the same design. Both the phones have a glass back and there’s Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on the front paired with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and a pop-up selfie camera - the pop-up mechanism which looks a lot like a shark fin houses a 16MP camera.

Speaking of specs, the Reno 10x Zoom comes with a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a 1080p+ resolution, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. There’s a 4,065mAh battery and VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

The real star of the show here is Oppo’s 10x lossless zoom camera tech – that Oppo first announced at MWC 2019. The Reno 10x Zoom has a 48MP main camera (with Sony IMX586 sensor), an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP telephoto camera. Both the main camera and the telephoto camera are optically stabilized.

Coming to the vanilla Reno, it comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 1080p+ resolution, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. There’s a 3,765mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 tech. On to the optics, the Reno has a dual rear camera system consisting of one 48MP sensor (Sony IMX586) and another 5MP sensor for depth sensing aka portrait photography.

In other news, Oppo sister brand OnePlus, is gearing to launch the OnePlus 7 series of phones in India on May 14.
