With 2019 predicted to be a big year for futuristic technology trends, particularly digital, it only becomes imminent that even smartphones potentially turn smarter in a bid to attract Indian consumers. Now, with purchase of a smartphone being the criteria, what are the key parameters you would follow before you buy your next one (or your new unit)?

Here, an IDC research report through an exclusive study on Indian smartphone consumer trends stated that the potential parameters before finalizing purchase of a smartphone could be deals, next-gen technical specifications and technical aspects, and innovative finance initiatives offered by sellers. This study also places word of mouth on top priority sa far as consumer influencing is concerned.

Now, this could have theoretically lead to deeper penetration of Chinese brands viz OnePlus and Xiaomi; but practically, almost all smartphone brands today are engrossed in cut-throat marketing competition in a bid to woo consumers; hence, it could be affordability of the handsets and features that could have led to these Chinese players dominating smartphone segments in India.

IDC’s study indicated that players viz Oppo and Xiaomi have a practically higher possibility of being considered as value-for-money brands; these brands do have offerings that are affordably priced whilst offering  next-gen technical aspects, at this point in time. As far as finalizing the purchase of smartphones is concerned, do you think that recommendation from your loved ones would do the trick for you? IDC’s report thinks so.

With respect to micro aspects concerning technical specifications, processing speed and RAM are estimated to be the highly sought-after technical specifications; next up are the camera aspects and battery life.The icing on the cake, as per the IDC research, has been value-added features such as the extent of waterproofing offered and unique unlocking mechanisms.
