Oppo spin-off brand Realme launched the Realme 3i budget phone in India on Monday alongside the more premium mid-tier Realme X. The Realme 3i is essentially a lite or toned-down version of the Realme 3 which sees Realme going back to its signature diamond-cut design, while keeping intact many of the hardware specs that made the latter so very likeable.

Realme has launched the Realme 3i in India at a starting price of Rs 7,999 for the base variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, going all the way to Rs 9,999 for the top-end variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Realme 3i specs and features

The Realme 3i features Realme’s signature diamond-cut design which made its debut with the Realme 1 – it was also seen in the Realme 2. Realme is using different shades of colours here though which should make the Realme 3i more appealing to its target audience – the youth. The Realme 3i will be available in Diamond Black, Diamond Blue and Diamond Red.

Like the Realme 3, the body of the Realme 3i is also made entirely out of plastic. Realme says the textured back of the Realme 3i is “fingerprint proof and prevents the deposit of various stains.”

Speaking of specs, the Realme 3i has the same 6.2-inch 720p+ IPS LCD display with a teardrop/waterdrop-style notch and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection as the Realme 3. The core hardware has been tweaked as the Realme 3i is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 processor as opposed to the Realme 3 which comes with a Helio P70 under the hood. This is paired with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage which is expandable by up to 256GB via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The Realme 3i further packs a sizeable 4,230mAh battery with micro-USB charging (no fast charging) like the Realme 3.

Software inside the phone is Oppo’s ColorOS 6 which is based on Android 9 Pie. Realme is also launching its in-house theme store in India with the Realme 3i (and Realme X).

On to the optics, the Realme 3i has the same dual rear camera system as the Realme 3 which is a combination of a 13MP f/1.8 sensor and another 2MP sensor for depth sensing aka portrait photography. On the front, the Realme 3i comes with a 13MP camera – same as the Realme 3.

Hallmark Realme features such as Nightscape (which is Realme’s take on the night mode we’ve come to see on many phones lately) and Chroma Boost (used for achieving greater dynamic range and more balanced exposure under different lighting scenarios) are available on the Realme 3i.

Additionally, Realme says that the Realme 3i’s front camera supports group selfie beauty (for up to 4 people) that can “automatically identify genders in the same photo to apply the most suitable beautification solutions.”

Realme 3i price and availability

The Realme 3i starts at Rs 7,999 for the base variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, while the top-end variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage will cost Rs 9,999. The Realme 3i will be available for buying from July 23 from Flipkart.
