Oppo spin-off brand Realme has taken to Twitter to announce that it has sold over 20 lakh Realme 2 phones in India in less than five months after launch. The Realme 2 was launched last year in August and Realme started selling the device in the country starting from September. While the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage version of the Realme 2 currently sells for Rs 9,499, the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage version of the phone sells for Rs 10,990.

“Our Realme fans continue to send us their regards! 2M+ Realme 2 phones sold till now! Thank you, India,” Madhav Sheth, chief executive officer, Realme India shared on Twitter.

The announcement comes days after Realme announced that it had sold over 40 lakh Realme devices in India in only 7 months after launch. The company made its debut in May 2018 with the affordable online-exclusive Realme 1 phone and has since tapped into the offline sales segment as well to make its products available to a wider audience.

The company has announced that it will expand its offline presence to 150 cities across India by the end of 2019. Realme will start with ten cities this month and proliferate into 50 new cities every quarter: eventually making its products available through 20,000 retail outlets or Real partners across the country.

Realme has also partnered with Reliance stores to make its products available in more than 130 cities across over 1300 Reliance Digital and My Jio stores.

Realme made its India debut in May 2018 and has since launched a flurry of affordable devices like the Realme 2 that bring lots of value to the table. Realme has grown to become a viable alternative to Xiaomi in the affordable price segment in a short span of time. This is also corroborated by data released by research firms like CMR and Counterpoint.
