Realme’s budget phone Realme 3i is off to a blazing start, so it seems. Realme says it sold 1.5 lakh Realme 3i units in India in 30 minutes in its first sale today – this may be the first time a brand has given a firm number (of units which were put up on sale) while boasting how quickly it was able to sell them off. The Realme 3i starts at Rs 7,999 for the base variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, while the top-end variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage will cost Rs 9,999. It’s available for buying from Flipkart and Realme’s online store.

The Realme 3i will go on sale again later tonight at 8PM, Realme has announced.

The Realme 3i is essentially a toned-down version of the Realme 3 which sees Realme going back to its signature diamond-cut design, while keeping many hardware specs constant.

Speaking of specs, the Realme 3i has a 6.2-inch 720p+ IPS LCD display with a teardrop/waterdrop-style notch and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Realme says that the textured (plastic) back of the Realme 3i is “fingerprint proof and prevents the deposit of various stains.”

The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 processor which is paired with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage which is expandable by up to 256GB via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The Realme 3i further packs a sizeable 4,230mAh battery with micro-USB charging (no fast charging). Software inside the phone is Oppo’s ColorOS 6 which is based on Android 9 Pie.

On to the optics, the Realme 3i has the same dual rear camera system as the Realme 3 which is a combination of a 13MP f/1.8 sensor and another 2MP sensor for depth sensing aka portrait photography. On the front, the Realme 3i comes with a 13MP camera – same as the Realme 3.

The Realme 3i was launched in India on July 15 alongside the more potent Realme X which brings a pop-up selfie camera setup and in-display fingerprint scanner (among other things) at under Rs 20,000.

In other news, Realme has confirmed that it is working on a phone with a whopping 64MP main camera – this could be its next major launch in India. Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth recently shared a picture taken with the mystery phone on Twitter confirming three things – the phone will come with four rear cameras, the main camera will use a 64MP GW1 sensor, and India will be the first market to get it.
