Oppo spin-off brand Realme will launch its pop-up selfie camera toting Realme X phone in India in July, according to a new report. Realme has confirmed that it is partnering with Marvel’s soon-to-release Spider-Man: Far From Home film and even though the company hasn’t revealed what this association would entail, chances are the Realme X could have some sort of Spider-Man connection in India at launch.

Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has started teasing the Realme X in indirect ways on Twitter – only recently he has changed his Twitter name to Madhav X, hinting at an imminent launch. Come to think of it, a July launch won’t be surprising also because Xiaomi is gearing to launch its Redmi K20 series in India in the same month. The Realme X could be Realme’s answer to the Redmi K20.

Speaking of specs, the Realme X has a 6.53-inch 1080p+ AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. The dual-SIM Realme X runs Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6 software. The Realme X further packs a 3,765mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 flash charge support. The Realme X also ditches a conventional fingerprint scanner for an optical in-display solution.

Speaking of cameras, the Realme X has a dual camera system on the rear consisting of a 48MP (Sony IMX 586) sensor and another 5MP sensor for depth sensing aka portrait photography. On the front, the Realme X comes with a 16MP camera with a Sony IMX471 sensor – which is part of a pop-up mechanism.

Realme has launched the Realme X in China at a starting price of CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs 15,400) for the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the top-end model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage sells for CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs 18,400). There’s also a version with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage with a price of CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs 16,400). The Realme X is expected to arrive in India with slightly tweaked hardware – so it would be interesting to see what Realme has in store.
