Oppo spin-off brand Realme launched its premium mid-ranger Realme XT phone in India on Friday at a starting price of Rs 15,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, going all the way to Rs 18,999 for the top-end variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Realme X is India’s first smartphone with a whopping 64MP main camera.

The Realme XT is a lower mid-tier phone which packs a Super AMOLED screen with an in-display fingerprint scanner, a 64MP quad rear camera setup and a 16MP selfie shooter, and 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging – the Realme XT is not a follow up or successor to the Realme X though. Neither has it been designed to replace the Realme 5 Pro – another Realme phone that ships with four rear cameras.

Realme XT specs and features

The Realme XT boasts of a gradient design language like the Realme X – Realme calls it 3D hyperbola design. The phone will be available in two color options, Pearl Blue and Pearl White. Underneath, it’s all plastic though, just like the Realme X.

Speaking of specs, the Realme XT has a 6.4-inch 1080p+ Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection up-top. Even though the Realme XT doesn’t have a pop-up selfie camera setup like the Realme X, Realme claims a screen-to-body ratio of a 91.9 per cent – Realme says it has repurposed its dewdrop notch to be even smaller. The Realme XT also ditches a conventional fingerprint scanner for an optical in-display solution, like the OnePlus 7 Pro/OnePlus 7.

Under the hood, the Realme XT has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB storage which is also expandable via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The dual-SIM Realme XT runs Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6 software. The Realme XT further packs a 4,000mAh battery and supports Oppo’s VOOC 3.0 flash charge which is claimed to top the battery from 0-100 per cent in just 80 minutes. Realme will be bundling a 20W fast charger and a proprietary Type-C cable in the box.

On to the optics, the Realme XT has a four-camera setup on the rear. It has a 64MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with 119-degree field-of-view, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro lens. That main camera uses Samsung’s 64MP GW1 sensor. Hallmark Realme features such as Nightscape and Chroma Boost are available on the Realme XT as well. On the front, the Realme XT has a 16MP camera with a Sony IMX471 sensor.

Realme XT India price and availability

Realme has launched the Realme XT in India in as many as three variants - 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 8GB/128GB. While the 4GB/64GB variant has been launched for Rs 15,999, the 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB variants will sell for Rs 16,999 and Rs 18,999 respectively. The Realme XT will go on sale for the first time in India on September 16 from Flipkart and Realme’s online store. The Realme XT will also be sold offline later.

Realme has also confirmed that it will launch an even more powerful variant of the Realme XT, called the Realme XT 730G, in India in December.
