A Redmi Go 16GB edition is now official with its biggest plus being the extra storage that it is offering for buyers at an ultra-low price of Rs 4800. This means that in case you are looking to buy a smartphone, for storing and playing multimedia content, at shoe-string budgets, and enjoy the Redmi branding, then the Redmi Go could be theoretically ideal.

Now, the Redmi Go 16GB with 1GB RAM has been launched in India and the obvious USP of the smartphone is its increased internal storage offering; at nearly the same cost (Rs 4799). Firstly, check out what Redmi had to say about the launch of the 16GB Redmi Go Android Go smartphone:

Also, the 16GB Redmi Go should add value to phones in the similar category – such as ultra-low-cost smartphones from brands such as Micromax, Karbonn, Lava, Intex, and even a multitude of cheap Chinese brands. With Redmi’s brand value having undoubtedly surged in India, this factor could be a turnout with respect to the latest 16GB Redmi Go as well.

Technical specification-wise, the Redmi Go 16GB Android Go smartphone features identical specs as that of the earlier 8GB edition – except for the difference in internal storage. To rewind, the Redmi Go comes with key technical aspects such as:

  • 5-inch HD display having 720p high resolution
  • Android Go platform
  • Quad-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • 8MP rear snapper; with LED-flash
  • 5MP front camera
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 16 GB internal storage; there is an 8GB edition as well
  • MicroSD card slot for extending 16 GB internal storage up to 128 GB
  • 3000mAh battery to power the smartphone.

Finally, the Redmi Go could also serve as a secondary smartphone – to complement users’ premium primary smartphones (Android or iOS). Do you think so as well?
