Redmi K30 - a Xiaomi Redmi rumoured enhanced version of the Redmi K20 is now said to be on the cards, and this smartphone could also be 5G-enabled. The Redmi K30 also seems to have surfaced officially on Chinese social networking platform Weibo (translated) where Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing teased a prototype. At this point in time, the Redmi K20 which is new in India and in existence even in China offers only the 4G-LTE network compatibility. Hence, 5G connectivity could be a plus.  

The Speculated Redmi K30

The Redmi K30 (surfacing via Weibo - translated) is also said to be currently in early research-development phases. At this point in time, there are no details regarding the key technical specifications of the alleged Redmi K30 smartphone. Also, the speculated 5G variant of the Redmi K30 could take considerable time to launch in India after its global launch. Currently, it is not known when 5G network standards would take-off in India or even if these are relevant for the country’s scheme of things. Both Xiaomi and Redmi-branded smartphones enjoy significant patronage in India.  

The current-gen Redmi K20

Now, in related developments, the petition filed on Change (change.org) calling for Xiaomi/Redmi to reduce the price of the Redmi K20 by Rs 2000 has received 6280 signatures out of a targeted 7500. The petition rapidly got to 500 signatures but has been slow to garner signatures since. At this point in time, it is worth remembering that the price of the Redmi K20 is Rs 22000 for a 64GB edition. The Redmi K20 comes with key technical specifications like the below.
