Xiaomi’s newly independent Redmi sub-brand is working on a flagship phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor – this piece of information has been confirmed by Redmi itself. Now, a new report gives us a good look at what to expect, vis-a-vis this upcoming Redmi flagship. The phone in question, that does not have a name yet, is said to come with some killer specs – including triple rear cameras and 8GB RAM.

According to the report, the Redmi flagship phone will come with a 6.39-inch screen with a 2340x1080p resolution. Under the hood will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone is further said to come with triple rear cameras consisting of one 48MP primary sensor, a 13MP sensor (possibly wide-angle) and an 8MP sensor (possibly telephoto). On the front, the phone is said to come with a 32MP camera. Battery capacity is unknown at this point of time.

Speculation has been rife that the Redmi flagship phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 will have a pop-up or elevating selfie camera (like the one seen in the Vivo V15 Pro) after a supposed render of the phone in question was spotted on Weibo – but Redmi chief Lu Weibing recently laid all speculations to rest by confirming the phone won’t have a pop-up selfie cam.

Weibing and Redmi have been keeping their cards close to their chest – the Redmi chief is still not saying much about the upcoming Redmi flagship or even a tentative timeline of launch although it is speculated to arrive as early as next month.

Redmi has long been known for its affordable devices. That seems to be the case still, only now, the company is looking to do a Poco as an independent sub-brand of Xiaomi. This means, even though the new-age Redmi phones will be very aggressively priced, they will be home to the latest and greatest of specs. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is a classic example. The upcoming flagship phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 could take things to an all new level. Some reports suggest this Redmi flagship could land as the Poco F2 in India.
