Samsung has launched a Lite version of its recently launched budget phone Galaxy A20, calling it the Galaxy A20e. Although the company is yet to announce price and availability specifics, the Galaxy A20 costs Rs 12,490 in India – so the Galaxy A20e should cost less than that. The Galaxy A20e keeps much of the design and hardware specs of the Galaxy A20, but comes with a smaller screen and a smaller battery.

The Galaxy A20e comes with a 5.8-inch 720p+ (HD+) LCD display with Infinity-V teardrop notch and an octa-core Exynos 7884 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage which is expandable. There’s a 3,000mAh battery powering the whole thing and there’s also 15W fast charging. It comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

The Galaxy A20e further comes with dual rear cameras consisting of one 13MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a secondary 5MP ultra wide-angle sensor. On the front, the Galaxy A20e comes with an 8MP camera.

The Galaxy A20 gets a more superior Super AMOLED display (also, a larger 6.4-inch one) and a bigger 4,000mAh battery – so unless those are a priority, the Galaxy A20e doesn’t skimp down on much in comparison.

There’s also the Galaxy A10, which sells for Rs 8,490 in India. The Galaxy A10 comes with a 6.2-inch HD+ Infinity-V notch display and an Exynos7884 processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage which is expandable. It packs a 3,400mAh battery with micro-USB charging. The Galaxy A10 has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The Galaxy A10 does not have any fingerprint scanner.

Samsung is revamping its Galaxy A-series strategy which is why we’re seeing Galaxy A phones for as low as Rs 8,490 now. Samsung is doing away with its Galaxy J-series – the Galaxy A-series will cover everything budget and mid-range going forward while the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note will continue to be the company’s high-end flagship series. We’re yet to get some clarity on the future of the Galaxy M-series though.
