Samsung’s 2019 Galaxy A lineup is official with the company kicking things off with two phones to boot – the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 at MWC 2019. Both the phones are expected to be launched in India on February 28. The Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 pack big Infinity-U screens and big 4,000mAh batteries under the hood – in addition to an all-new 3D ‘glasstic’ design which seems to be Samsung’s take on the gradient design scheme seen in competing products from Huawei and others.

The Galaxy A50 is the more premium of the two, with a 6.4-inch 1080p+ Super AMOLED display and a 2.3Ghz octa-core Exynos 9610 processor with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage which is expandable. It comes with three rear cameras consisting of one 25MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, the Galaxy A50 comes with a 25MP camera.

The Galaxy A50 is also the first Galaxy A phone to ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner although Samsung isn’t saying if it is ultrasonic like the one on-board the Galaxy S10.

Coming to the Galaxy A30, it comes with a 6.4-inch 1080p+ Super AMOLED display and a 1.8Ghz octa-core Exynos 7885 processor with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage which is expandable. It comes with dual rear cameras consisting of one 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture and another 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, the Galaxy A30 comes with a 16MP camera.

Unlike the Galaxy A50, the Galaxy A30 has a conventional rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Samsung has already started teasing the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 (and a third device, likely to be the entry-level Galaxy A10) through a dedicated notify-me landing page – and it is all set to launch them in India on February 28. The landing page reveals numerous teaser posters highlighting their key features – the biggest being their ultra-wide and slow-motion video recording capabilities.

While the most basic of the lot – ideally the Galaxy A10 – has an Infinity-V notch display like the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20, the other two – the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 – have an Infinity-U notch display like the upcoming Galaxy M30 – something that is also confirmed by today’s launch.

The Galaxy A10 will not have any fingerprint scanner and come with a single rear camera. Samsung will seemingly debut the Galaxy A10 in India first.
