After the launch of the Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30, Samsung is seemingly gearing to launch the next iteration in the Galaxy M-series, aka the Galaxy M40, in India early next month. According to an IANS report, the Galaxy M40 will come with features like a punch-hole display and triple rear cameras, at a price of around Rs 25,000.

The punch hole display is currently limited to Samsung’s top-tier Galaxy S10 phones in India – Samsung calls the setup as Infinity-O. The Galaxy M40 will be the most affordable Samsung phone with such a setup, if the report is anything to go by. Triple rear cameras are becoming increasingly common in budget and mid-tier Samsung phones thanks to its new-age Galaxy A line-up. The Galaxy M30 also has three rear cameras, and looks like, the Galaxy M40 will also follow suit – although there’s no word on the resolution and type of cameras involved here.

Going somewhat off the script, the Galaxy M40 is said to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and not Samsung’s in-house Exynos SoC that is seen inside all the current Galaxy M-series phones. Rumor has it that the Galaxy M40 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor like the Galaxy A70 – also, the phone has been rumored to come with up to 6GB RAM, Android 9 Pie-based One UI and a 5,000mAh battery.

To recall, Samsung launched the Galaxy M30 in India in February. The Galaxy M30 starts at Rs 14,990 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, going all the way to Rs 17,990 for the top-end variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. A Rs 25,000 price bracket for the Galaxy M40 won’t be surprising since it is “set to be the most powerful offering in the series.”

The Galaxy M30 comes with a 6.4-inch Infinity-U Super AMOLED display with a 1080p+ resolution. The phone is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7904 processor with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage which is also expandable via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 15W USB Type-C fast charging support.

The Galaxy M30 further comes with three rear cameras -- a 13MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture, a 5MP depth sensor and another 5MP ultra-wide sensor with 123-degree field of view. On the front, the Galaxy M30 comes with a 16MP camera.
