Samsung Galaxy S10 getting Note 10-like DeX support, camera features

One of the headlining features of the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ is DeX support and now Samsung is bringing it to the Galaxy 10 lineup through a new software update. The lineup includes the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e. Samsung’s DeX now allows you to move files between your phone and computer (Windows/Mac) more seamlessly by connecting the Galaxy Note 10+/Galaxy Note 10 to it with any USB cable. Galaxy S10 users will be also able to use this functionality now. 

"Once users download the app from SamsungDeX.com, they’ll be able to launch Samsung DeX on their PC or Mac simply by connecting their Galaxy S10 to their computer via USB cable," Samsung notes.

Samsung has partnered with Microsoft to bring ‘Link to Windows’ to the Galaxy Note 10+ and Galaxy Note 10. Once linked, you can exchange text, share photos, and receive notifications from the galaxy Note 10+ and Galaxy Note 10 on your Windows PC. The new update also adds support for ‘Link to Windows’ to the Galaxy S10 lineup. 

The said update also brings a few key camera features of the Galaxy Note 10 to the Galaxy 10 phones. These include AR Doodle, a built-in video editor and Live Focus video recording that lets users “apply bokeh effects (including blur, big circle, color point and glitch) to videos recorded with the front or rear camera.” The update, in addition, also brings night mode to the front camera of the Galaxy S10 phones. 

The update is already rolling out in Europe and should land in the US this week. 

Samsung has also started rolling out Android 10-based One UI 2.0 beta for the Galaxy S10 phones in select markets like India so users will be able to access the update early and report bugs – ahead of an official stable release. Samsung is yet to announce when its Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 phones will be updated to One UI 2.0. All these phones run Android 9 Pie-based One UI out-of-the-box. One UI focuses a great deal on faster and seamless use cases on large-screen devices.
