Samsung Galaxy S10 will reportedly be Blockchain-ready with own cryptocurrency wallet

The Samsung Galaxy S10 could be the first Samsung Galaxy phone to come with a dedicated Samsung Blockchain KeyStore, a native wallet app, to allow users to store and manage supported cryptocurrency. While it isn’t likely to be as Blockchain-focused as the HTC Exodus 1, Samsung could be looking to offer a “secure and convenient place for your cryptocurrency,” with the Galaxy S10: making it a first-of-its-kind mobile device from the South Korean major. 

A leaked Samsung Galaxy S10 render, doing the rounds of the Internet, gives a first-look at Samsung’s Blockchain KeyStore app. The native cryptocurrency wallet app will apparently allow users to import an existing wallet or create a new wallet, as well as use biometric authentication for security. The render shows Ethereum (ETH) as the only supported cryptocurrency but it isn’t clear yet if Samsung will be looking to add more to the list in the days to come. 

The render, in addition, also shows off the front of the alleged Samsung Galaxy S10 confirming (once again) that it will come with a punch-hole selfie cam, aka an Infinity-O display like the one we saw recently in the Samsung Galaxy A8s. The positioning of this punch-hole selfie cam will be different however. While in the case of the Galaxy A8s it is located on the left, in the Galaxy S10, it will lie on the right.  

The Samsung Galaxy S10 will also reportedly support reverse charging, which is another first for a Samsung Galaxy. This is something that was previously hinted by serial tipster Evan Blass as well. Reverse charging means the Samsung Galaxy S10 could be able to wirelessly charge other compatible devices something on the lines of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.  

The version inside the Huawei Mate 20 Pro isn’t exactly ideal to comfortably charge compatible devices though. It is slow and takes some time getting used to as far as positioning of devices is concerned. It will be interesting to see if Samsung could add something of its own here and make the feature worthwhile and worth talking about. 

Samsung will launch its Galaxy S10 phones on February 20 ahead of MWC 2019. The company is hosting its annual Unpacked event in San Francisco on February 20 where it will take the wraps off its Galaxy S10 phones for the global markets.
