ZTE offshoot brand Nubia has launched the Red Magic 3 in India – a high-end gaming phone with an AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with up to 12GB RAM, a 5,000mAh battery, and wait for it, an actual fan inside for cooling. That’s a lot of smartphone, especially when you consider the phone’s asking price. The Red Magic 3 has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 35,999, making it the cheapest high-end gaming phone that you can buy in India – undercutting Xiaomi-backed Black Shark’s Black Shark 2 by a fair margin, in both pricing as well as all-round specs.

Speaking of specs, the Nubia Red Magic 3 comes with a 6.65-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch refresh rate – there’s no notch or display cutout on this one. The gaming phone is powered by Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 processor with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.

The Red Magic 3 packs stereo speakers and 4D customizable vibrations for enhanced gaming audio experiences. There’s also ICE liquid cooling as well as an actual fan – a first for any smartphone - that is claimed to lower the temperature by up to16 degrees Celsius for long gaming sessions.

The Red Magic 3 also has a massive 5,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support. The Red Magic 3 has a single camera on the rear – which is a 48MP (Sony IMX586) sensor with f/1.7 aperture. This camera is capable of recording 8K videos as well as 1920fps super-slow-motion videos.

As is the norm, Nubia is also bringing a few accessories to complement the Red Magic 3’s gaming aspirations – these include a charging dock, earphones, and a custom game controller.

The Red Magic 3 will be available for buying in two configurations. While the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage has been launched at Rs 35,999, the top-end variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage will cost you Rs 46,999. For some perspective, Black Shark has launched the Black Shark 2 in India at a starting price of Rs 39,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage while the top-end variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage costs Rs 49,999 in India.

The Red Magic 3 will be available for buying from Flipkart from June 27.
