This app toppled Cricbuzz, Tinder to win user’s choice app for 2018 on Google Play Store

Google Pay (formerly known as Tez) has won user’s choice app of 2018 title on Play Store. Among the runner-up’s list are Cricbuzz, Tinder, SHAREit and several others. Google Pay has an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 on Play Store, in addition to over 5 million downloads. Google Pay also happens to be the editor’s choice app on Play Store.

In September 2017, Google intially launched Tez, an UPI-enabled payment app for India. After almost a year, Google rebranded Tez to Google Pay to align with its global wallet app’s branding. As we mentioned, Google Pay is one of India’s leading UPI-enabled payments app to send and receive money in real-time.

Short for Unified Payment’s Interface, UPI is a real-time payment method developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI). UPI lets users make the bank-to-bank payment transfer without much hassle. Unlike NEFT, users don’t have to input details like bank account number and IFSC code when it comes to UPI transactions.

One of the primary reasons why Google Pay is popular among users is its rewards system. Google Pay offers scratch cards upon completing transactions. Higher the payment transactions, more are the chances to earn rewards through scratch cards.

Previously, we demonstrated how to setup Google Pay in order to send or receive money over UPI. For a secure app experience, Google Pay users can either opt for 4-digit secure PIN or pattern lock. But do remember that those who opt for 4-digit secure PIN must be connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi every time they want to use the app.
