This Could Be Your First Look At Xiaomi’s Upcoming Redmi K20 Flagship Phone

Xiaomi’s newly independent Redmi sub-brand is gearing to launch its first true-blue flagship phone aka the Redmi K20 (and quite possibly the Redmi K20 Pro as well) in China on May 28 – the Redmi K20 is scheduled to arrive in India soon after. Redmi has been hyping the Redmi K20 big time, and its new teaser might just have reveled more comprehensive information about its all-screen design – corroborating rumor mills along the way.

The Redmi K20 has been rumored to come with an all-screen (AMOLED) display and a pop-up selfie camera. A new teaser shared by Redmi on Chinese social media website Weibo hypes the phone’s in-display fingerprint scanner – and in the teaser you can clearly see a phone that could well be the Redmi K20.

According to Redmi, the Redmi K20 will come with a seventh-generation optical in-display fingerprint scanner that’s said to be faster, more accurate as well as covering a larger area over the last-generation tech. Redmi says, the seventh-generation optical in-display fingerprint scanner has 7.2μm ultra-large pixels and boast of DSP acceleration - also, the fingerprint scanning area is increased by 15 per cent over the last-generation.

The teaser does not show the front camera but considering that the Redmi K20 is an all-screen phone (as per the render), there’s a very high possibility that it would have a pop-up front camera – unless Redmi opts for a slider mechanism like the Mi Mix 3. That said, since Redmi doesn’t explicitly name the phone in the render, we suggest you take this piece of information with a pinch of salt.

Regardless, every leak has been pointing at such a setup, so the render might not be far from the truth.

Redmi has previously confirmed that the Redmi K20 will be powered by Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 processor and it will be optimized for gaming. The phone will boast of two-day battery life – it will pack a 4,000mAh battery. The K20 will be also eligible for Android Q beta at launch. And it will have a 48MP main camera with Sony IMX586 sensor capable of recording 960fps slow-motion videos.

Rumored specs of the Redmi flagship phone include a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with a 2340x1080p resolution, triple rear cameras consisting of one 48MP primary sensor, a 13MP sensor (possibly wide-angle) and an 8MP sensor (possibly telephoto), and a 32MP front camera. The Redmi K20 is said to come in as many as four configurations - 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB, and three colours – red, blue and carbon fibre.
