Days after seemingly official renders of the Pixel 3a were spotted online, serial tipster Even Blass has shared the complete render of Google’s upcoming mid-range Pixel. The render shared by the tipster is in line with those spotted online recently, but in addition, also show off the back of the alleged Pixel 3a. Because Blass has a track record of outing spot-on renders, this could well be the real deal – and by the looks of it, the Pixel 3a will look a lot like the Pixel 3.
The render shows off the white variant of the alleged Pixel 3a and even though it looks a lot like the Pixel 3, subtle differences exist. For one, the power button is orange instead of mint green. Also, the Pixel 3a, as per the render, lacks a front-firing dual stereo speaker setup. Rest of the design is in line with the Pixel 3 (although, the Pixel 3a is said to be built entirely out of plastic which automatically entails in no wireless charging). There is the Pixel’s dual tone back, and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner – it is yet to be seen if it retains Google’s squeezable edge sense technology. A bigger Pixel 3a XL is also expected which would likely have a similar design.
Google has hinted that it will formally announce the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL phones at I/O 2019 on May 7. The render shared by Blass has the dateline May 7 as well – seemingly confirming the launch window as well.
The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are supposed to a be mid-cycle refresh of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL – their main USP is said to be the fact that the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be mid-range phones designed to be much more affordable than the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. That said, both the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are said to retain the Pixel 3’s class-leading cameras.
Rumour has it that the Pixel 3a will come with a 5.6-inch OLED screen with a 1080x2220 pixel resolution and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor with 4GB RAM under the hood – it will reportedly come with a 12MP rear camera and a 3,000mAh battery. As for the Pixel 3a XL, it is said to come with a 6-inch screen with a 1080x2160 pixel resolution and a Snapdragon 710 paired with 4GB RAM.
