It seems that the competitor to the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018), the Realme 2 Pro could get Android 9.0 as an OS update and there are speculations that there could be a near future edition of the Realme 2 Pro that runs Android 9.0 (Pie) straight out of the box. At this juncture, it is worth remembering that both the Realme 2 Pro as well as the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) fall into the premium smartphones segment.

Now, a smartphone bearing model number RMX1801 has been benchmarked at Geekbench and gauging the model number the handset seems to be the Realme 2 Pro. To start off with, this smartphone notched up Geekbench score of 5438 under a multi-core test and single-core score of 1453.

When the above Geekbench listing is carefully analysed, the “System Information” section shows the operating system of the RMX1801 (Realme 2 Pro) as being driven by the Android 9.0 (Pie) operating system. This variant of the phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC that incorporates octa cores. There Is also a 3GM RAM under-the-hood.

This could be potentially symbolic of the fact that an Android Pie software update for the Realme 2 Pro could be round the corner. The latest listing could also hint at an Android Pie test phase (soak test) for the Realme 2 Pro in the very near future. However, there have been no official updates from Oppo/Realme in this regard; but from a Realme smartphone user point of view, such an OS update could make complete sense considering the fact that the premium smartphones segment in India has now witnessed the rise of brands such as Xiaomi and OnePlus for quite some time). Hence, the field is open for fresher faces to disrupt the smartphone scene in India. Samsung is also not far behind in this aspect.
