Days after launching India’s most affordable punch-hole display toting Z1 Pro phone, Vivo is gearing to launch another affordable mid-ranger called the S1 in the country. Vivo is now sending out invites to the media for a launch event scheduled for August 7 in the National Capital, where it will launch the S1 for the Indian market. Although the invite doesn’t explicitly mention the name of the phone – the attached invite teased the letter ‘S’ though – Vivo has already confirmed it will be the S1.

Vivo has tied up with Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan for its new S-series and in the announcement briefer, the company clearly states that the S1 will be the first phone in the lineup.

“We at vivo have always kept the consumer at the center for all our decisions. Our association with sports activities or Bollywood superstars resonate with our commitment of being- trustworthy, committed to India and innovative. When we were first designing the S1, the first device from the all new S series, we were clear that we wanted to make a device that was both a style benchmark and packed in powerful features,” Nipun Marya who is director of brand strategy at Vivo India, said in a statement.

The S1 is already a go in select markets which means we already know everything about it – and Vivo is likely to launch it at around Rs 20,000 in India.

The key highlight will be the cameras. The Vivo S1 has three rear cameras consisting of one 16MP sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and another 5MP sensor for portraits. On the front the Vivo S1 has a 32MP camera, embedded inside a dewdrop-style notch.

The Vivo S1 has a 6.38-inch 1080p+ Super AMOLED display and a MediaTek Helio P65 processor under the hood. This is paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage which is also expandable. The dual-SIM Vivo S1 runs Android 9 Pie-based Funtouch OS 9 and packs a substantial 4,5000mAh battery inside.
