Smartphone companies and their sub-brand are no longer unknown territory for the smartphones market. Following in the footsteps of Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi, yet another Chinese smartphone brand Vivo has introduced a sub-brand called iQOO at their home turf. MySmartPrice first reported the development.

Although we don't know much about Vivo's iQOO just yet, reports say the brand is likely to come up with phones falling under the premium segment. Much like Redmi, Realme and Poco, we can safely assume Vivo could be looking to target one particular set of customers.

Several brands have employed this strategy in the past few months, primarily to establish new identity when it comes to different offerings and at times, customers are simply unaware of the fact that both the brands belong to the same company.

Vivo made the announcement using a new profile picture on Chinese social network Weibo. Going by the futuristic teaser, there have been speculations Vivo may have created iQOO only to focus on 5G and flagship devices priced around 5,000 yuan (roughly Rs 53,000).

More details are awaited whether Vivo has plans to announce iQOO-branded phones in the Indian market anytime soon.

Last month, Xiaomi touted Redmi with "new independent brand" tagline. As a result, Redmi is an entirely new and independent Xiaomi sub-brand, similar to Honor and Realme. However, this should not necessarily impact the brand's R&D and manufacturing operations.

Vivo recently dropped some interesting hints about their upcoming Vivo V15 Pro, which is confirmed to feature a 32MP pop-up selfie camera. New details emerged reveal more about the phone’s triple rear camera setup.

E-commerce portal Amazon is teasing the arrival of Vivo V15 Pro in the Indian market. So we know Vivo V15 Pro will be up for grabs exclusively via Amazon. The listing confirms Vivo V15 Pro will feature a 48MP primary rear camera, similar to Redmi Note 7.

In fact, Vivo will employ a similar camera sensor as the one used on Redmi Note 7. The camera sensor in question is Samsung-sourced GM1 sensor and not the Sony IMX586 sensor found inside Honor View 20.
