The Vivo V15 is official. Days after launching the Vivo V15 Pro in India, Vivo has launched a stripped down version – the Vivo V15, in select markets. The Vivo V15 has been launched in Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia and is expected to arrive in India soon.

The Vivo V15 shares the design of the V15 Pro, including its 32MP pop-up selfie camera. But it swaps the Pro’s 48MP primary rear camera for a 12MP shooter – the other two cameras in the triple cam setup are the same though, which means the Vivo V15 also comes with a secondary wide-angle 8MP and another 5MP sensor for depth sensing aka portrait photography.

The processor has been toned down too. Unlike the Vivo V15 Pro, the Vivo V15 packs a MediaTek Helio P70 processor paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage which is also expandable.

The Vivo V15 comes with a 6.53-inch 1080p+ LCD display and uses a 4,000mAh battery with micro-USB charging. On the front, the phone is seen having bare minium bezels, much like the Vivo V15 Pro. Software inside is Android Pie-based FunTouch OS 9. Unlike the Vivo V15 Pro that has an in-display fingerprint scanner, the Vivo V15 has a conventional fingerprint scanner on the back.

The Vivo V15 has been launched at THB10,999 which roughly translates to Rs 25,000. It will be available in Topaz Blue and Glamour Red colour options.

Vivo has launched the Vivo V15 Pro in India at Rs 28,990 (MOP) - which is quite aggressive. The V15 Pro should be priced lower, and chances are it could end up becoming the most affordable phone in India with an elevating front camera.

Vivo isn't the only company with a pop-up selfie camera. Sister brand Oppo is gearing to launch the Oppo F11 Pro in India with such a setup on March 5. The Oppo F11 Pro will come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner (no in-display fingerprint scanner on this one like the Vivo V15 Pro or Oppo’s own K1) and a vertially aligned dual camera system consisting of one 48MP sensor and another 5MP sensor possibly for depth sensing.
