The Vodafone Rs 50 prepaid recharge plan is still live for subscribers in certain telecom circles of the telecom operator. This prepaid scheme was earlier a popular one- before the unlimited packs war (triggered by the emergence of Reliance Jio) came to the fore. The Rs 50 scheme is a talktime offer.

The "nostalgic" Rs 50 talktime-only plan

Now, scanning through the official Vodafone eStore, the Rs 50 plan was still found. This means that the scheme is still in existence. As far as its benefits are concerned, it offers Rs 39.37 talktime on recharge. There are no data benefits, and the plan is a talktime-only scheme. This was earlier the most opted plan by prepaid subscribers -  a majority of who availed custom SMS packs and recharged for data separately (usually meager) along with the Rs 50 plan.

Post the emergence of the unlimited offers, this Rs 50 plan seemingly got deleted from the minds of subscribers (prepaid). With it being in existence, subscribers could avail this. Now, this does not offer any validity. Hence, if you are thinking of availing this scheme as a minimum monthly recharge plan, then you might have to opt-in for other plans, in tandem with the Rs 50 plan.

Not too long ago, Vodafone fell prey to rumours that hinted at an unceremonious exit for the telco from the Indian telecom market. These were just that, rumours. The telco, for now, is faced with paying a huge penalty to the central government as the Supreme Court recently upheld the government’s definition of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR). Vodafone, and other incumbents such as Airtel and Jio would need to pay penalties for license fees, and spectrum usage charges. Also, Vodafone has not been levying IUC on customers for now, whereas Jio has begun with 6 paise per minute (as mandated by TRAI).
