Incumbent telco Vodafone which has made official the Rs 1999 prepaid recharge plan that offers a host of benefits along with the all-important 365-day validity period is now live in select regions. As with other annual recharge plans, this package’s USP is also its annual validity period offering.
At this point in time, Vodafone’s Rs 1999 prepaid recharge scheme is live for the telco’s Kerala circle. This package is also reflecting on Vodafone’s official recharge portal. Benefits of the Rs 1999 365-days plan include the likes of free + unlimited voice calls, along with 1.5 GB LTE data per day, and as many as 100 free text messages. However, as stated above, the biggest advantage of this plan is its long validity offering that saves prepaid subscribers from the hassles of having to resort to monthly recharges to keep prepaid numbers active.
The Rs 1999 plan seems to be a bonus offering. Hence, Vodafone prepaid subscribers in Kerala could also check out the MyVodafone app to resort to recharging.
Now, these long validity plans (along with that of semi-long plans) are a new trend in the Indian telecom scheme of things. Various rumour mills have gone on record to state that these new plans are a way to combat new entrant Reliance Jio; but we think that the biggest benefit of these initiatives is to benefit the consumer; the long validity recharges - bundled with the voice + data package goes a long way in ensuring peace of mind as far as getting to experience hassle-free connectivity is concerned. Do share your thoughts in this regard.
In related developments, Vodafone has made live the Rs 49 data-only plan that offers 1GB data valid for a period of 28 days. No talktime is offered under this prepaid scheme. The data benefit offered is 1GB 4G data.
