The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 mid-range smartphone whose USP is its 16 MP front camera - potentially catering to the selfie generation, along with its Rs 9000 price tag, is now hugely rumoured to get a successor. In this regard, speculations are rife about a Redmi Y3 being in the launch pipeline - so as to succeed the Redmi Y2.
The rumoured Redmi Y3
It makes sense for Redmi to seed an apparent Redmi Y3 - to Xiaomi loyalists, especially those having used the Redmi Y2, this is considering the fact that there have been other Chinese smartphone brands in India that are dominating the mid-range smartphones scene; and predominant among these brands is Oppo that is also said to be prepping up multiple mid-range smartphones easy on the purses of buyers.
Also, mid-range smartphones are undoubtedly embraced with open arms by the Indian buyers and the best example of this has been Xiaomi’s own Redmi Note 7 Pro that also (like always) got sold out in seconds during a recent flash sale. Devices such as Oppo A3s have also been successful in capturing the eyeballs of buyers in India.
Now, the actual release of a purported Redmi Y3 is relevant and these rumours also received a recent boost in the form of an indication by a technology tipster going by the Twitter moniker Ishan Agarwal who has hinted that there would in actuality be a Redmi Y3 during the time period between May-June 2019. Key technical specifications of the Redmi Y3 are yet to even surface at this juncture.
In this regard, do share your insights on what you expect from the Redmi Y3 with respect to technical specifications and pricing aspects. We think that the Redmi Y3, once official, would be priced competitively (affordably) if the recent all-Chinese competition - from the likes of Oppo, Vivo, and even OnePlus are anything to go by.
