HMD-Global-owned Nokia, that has recently come out with a spate of mid-range smartphones, could well have lots of excitement in store during next year. This is potentially important considering the fact that Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi has recently launched its Redmi note 6 Pro which is a pure-mid-range; and a host of handsets from other brands such as Honor and Realme are also highly expected (by technology loyalists) to be launched very soon.
Hence, we could potentially witness a war of mid-rangers with buyers theoretically spoilt for choice while making purchase decisions.
Now, new rumours state that a next-gen Nokia smartphone, speculated to be the Nokia 6.2 would be launched next year; here, it is worth noting that Nokia has an event lined up in Dubai for January 2019; so, the company’s loyalists could indeed see multiple next-gen phones being unveiled here.

This potentially indicates that the Nokia 8.1 could be the last Nokia smartphone with the notch. The Nokia 6.1 Plus which was launched earlier this year was the first phone to feature the notch-type display.
The current-gen Nokia 6.1 Plus falls into the category of pure mid-range smartphones;by virtue of this, the speculated next-gen Nokia 6.2 could wee be a high-end handset potentially competing with Xiaomi in the value-for-money premium phones segment in India.
At this juncture, it is also worth noting that Nokia also has a spate of budget phones that also stand out against Xiaomi's budget Mi offerings.
The Nokia 6.2, once official, would make it interesting considering the notch-less display (now rumoured). For now, the company’s Nokia 6.1 Plus (current-gen) features key technical specifications such as:
