Xiaomi is tipped to announce its upcoming Mi 9 with three cameras on the rear, according to a research note issued by GF Securities Hong Kong. Additionally, the Mi Mix 4 is also expected to feature a triple-camera module on the back. Hence, we can safely assume the Mi 9 to be Xiaomi’s first smartphone to feature three cameras.

Triple-camera phone isn’t something new in the smartphones space. Huawei P20 Pro, Mate 20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 has triple cameras. In fact, Samsung also introduced the world’s first quad-camera phone, the Galaxy A9 (2018), a couple of months ago.

If these reports are to believe, Xiaomi could be planning to up its game by launching triple-camera smartphones in the market next year.

Apart from three cameras, both the Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi Mix 4 are tipped to run Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip under the hood. Report has it that Mi Mix 4 might also feature a foldable screen since the company has been long rumoured to announce a foldable display phone sometime in 2019.

The year 2019 is going to be quite happening for Xiaomi. Recently, what appears to be a retail box of the Redmi 7 Pro appeared online suggesting an imminent launch. As per TENAA listing, Xiaomi Redmi 7 Pro packs a 2,900mAh battery under the hood. The handset sports a 5.84-inch screen. It sports dual rear cameras and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi teased about a 48 MP camera phone and in related news, Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 was spotted in a leaked teaser. As per the teaser, the Redmi Pro 2 could feature a Snapdragon 675 processor, which indeed supports up to a 48MP snapshot. It also supports 4K video recording at 30 frames per second (fps).
