The premium Xiaomi Mi 9, launched during Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019) when unboxed does feel elegant and stylish. But is the smartphone durable enough to exhibit endurance under test conditions? Let’s find out. First of all, the smartphone has been subjected to durability tests at multiple levels by renowned technology analyst going by the YouTube moniker JerryRigEverything.
Getting right into the heart of durability tests
JerryRigEverything, in a new YouTube video subjected the smartphone to scratch tests; the smartphone’s sapphire display exhibits scratches at level 6 (scratch level parameters set for the test; pricks with increasing level of sharpness are used) with these getting deeper in level 7. The Teardrop notch, and build quality are normal considering the fact that general everyday usage does not involve unconditional scratching.
The Sapphire Glass cover on the triple rear cameras were also scratched using a level 5.5 stainless steel razor blade, and these showed endurance till they were scratched with a level 6 prick. Level 7 and Level 8 resulted in scratches getting displayed considerably prominently. Then, when the fingerprint sensor on the phone was subjected to level 7 scratches, it still functioned - which is impressive.
Check out bend tests
The Xiaomi Mi 9 held good stead when JerryRigEverything subjected the handset to a bend test from the back. It even survived that of the front bend test. The smartphone performed well with respect to the bend test.
With varying loyalties and disruptive usages, the bets verdict of these durability tests is best given by you. Hence, do share your insights on the above durability tests. You could watch the video linked above to check out JerryRigEverything’s full durability tests.
