Xiaomi is expanding its Express Delivery program so buyers in over 150 cities across India can avail guaranteed next day delivery of products ordered through Mi.com/in online store. Previously, the program was limited to Bengaluru. Xiaomi is also tweaking the terms and conditions of the program so more buyers will be able to get their purchased items delivered to their door step within a single day.

While previously the program was free for all (in Bengaluru), the expansion will see Xiaomi charging an ‘honest’ price of Rs 49 for buyers opting for Express Delivery. While previously the order timings were between 9AM and 4:30PM, now buyers will have to make their purchase by 3PM to avail Express Delivery. As expected, the program will be available for select products – Xiaomi says buyers will now be able to buy over 90 products through Express Delivery. Also, it won’t be surprising if Xiaomi will be offering Express Delivery to select pin codes.

With its newly expanded Express Delivery program, Xiaomi will be giving some competition to Amazon and Flipkart, both of which also sell Xiaomi products on their respective platforms.

The announcement comes days after Xiaomi kicked off its one-of-a-kind Mi Express Kiosks in India – again starting with Bengaluru. Xiaomi, in fact, says that it is the first technology brand in India to sell smartphones and mobile accessories via kiosks or vending machines. Xiaomi has launched its first Mi Express Kiosk vending machine at Manyata Tech Park in Bengaluru but it won’t be long before it opens them in more cities – Xiaomi plans to set up several more in the coming months across metro cities “in public areas with greater footfall such as tech parks, metro stations, airports, and shopping malls.”

Xiaomi has witnessed a meteoric rise in India. After having started as an online-only brand selling only smartphones, Xiaomi sells almost everything under the sun now – not to mention, it has grown phenomenally in the offline segment as well. Initiatives like Mi Express Kiosks and Express Delivery are geared towards offering a one-stop-shop to buyers, as also mediums to connect with them as fast and as efficiently as possible.
