Xiaomi has slashed the price of yet another budget Redmi phone in India. After announcing price cut on the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Y2, Xiaomi has announced that its Redmi 6 phone will now be available in India for as low as Rs 7,999. While the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage version of the Redmi 6 will now be available for Rs 7,999, the 3GB RAM and 64GB storage version will now sell for Rs 8,999. The price cut will apply across online and offline sales channels.
At the same time, Xiaomi has announced that its entry-level Redmi 6A phone has become the “best-selling smartphone since its launch in September 2018, as per IDC Monthly Smartphone tracker, November 2018 release.” The Redmi 6A will be available on open sale starting from January 12 to seemingly commemorate the milestone, which means buyers will be able to buy the Redmi 6A round the clock now.
The Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6A are the most affordable Redmi phone’s in Xiaomi’s portfolio. While the Redmi 6 is powered by a Helio P22 processor, the Redmi 6A packs a Helio A22 under the hood. The Redmi 6 comes with a dual camera setup on the rear consisting of a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor for depth sensing. The Redmi 6A, meanwhile, comes with a single 13MP rear camera.
Both the phones come with a 5.45-inch HD+ display, a 5MP front camera, Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI software and a 3,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi has been announcing price cuts on its products throughout this week. At the same time, it has also made some key announcements about sales, in addition to launching new products like the 55-inch Mi TV 4X Pro, the 43-inch Mi TV 41 Pro and the Mi Soundbar. While the 55-inch Mi TV 4X Pro will be available for buying in India for Rs 39,999, the 43-inch Mi TV 4A Pro will be available for buying for Rs 22,999. The Mi TV Soundbar will be available for buying for Rs 4,999.
