Xiaomi Redmi 8A now available in open sale in India

The Xiaomi Redmi 8A is now available in open sale in India. This means, potential buyers will be able to buy the Xiaomi Redmi 8A round the clock now. While the base variant of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage sells for Rs 6,499, the top-end model with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage costs Rs 6,999. The Redmi 8A is available for buying from Mi.com and Flipkart, as well as from Xiaomi’s offline Mi Home stores.  

Redmi 8A specs and features

Speaking of specs, the Xiaomi Redmi 8A comes with a 6.22-inch 720p+ LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor paired with up to 3GB RAM and up to 32GB storage which is expandable by up to 512GB via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The dual SIM phone runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 software. 

There’s a sizeable 5,000mAh battery inside the Redmi 8A and USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing – with support for 18W fast charging. The Redmi 8A, is in fact, the most affordable phone in India, to have such a setup. Xiaomi doesn’t bundle a fast charger in the box though. 

On to the cameras, the Redmi 8A comes with a 12MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX363 sensor and f/1.8 aperture. On the front, the Redmi 8A comes with an 8MP camera. Both the front and rear cameras onboard the Redmi 8A can so software-based portrait photography. 

The Redmi 8A is made entirely out of plastic and there’s no fingerprint scanner here – like the Redmi 7A. The design is different though. The Redmi 8A gets an aura design rehash. The phone in question has a textured back to enhance ergonomics – Xiaomi is calling the design of the Redmi 8A aura wave grip design. The Redmi 8A also comes with a P2i nano-coating making the phone splash-resistant. It is available in three colours - Midnight Black, Sunset Red and Ocean Blue.
