The design scheme of Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi 8A leaked not long ago showing off the phone’s textured back and a vertical strip hosing the single camera module. Turns out, the leaks were real after all. We all know that Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 8A in India on September 25. Ahead of D-day, a dedicated landing page of the phone in question has gone live on Flipkart revealing some key design and hardware elements.

Redmi 8A incoming with aura wave design

Basis of the renders teased by Xiaomi on Flipkart, looks like the Redmi 8A is all set to get an aura design rehash, like the Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3. Unlike the Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3 however, it seems the Redmi 8A will have a textured back to enhance ergonomics – simply, put it doesn’t seem like the Redmi 8A will have a flashy gradient-toting exterior. Xiaomi is calling the design of the Redmi 8A aura wave grip design. And it looks exactly like the renders we saw recently courtesy certification website TENAA.

Also, the Redmi 8A looks all set to get a new orange/coral color option – in addition to blue.

On the front, the Redmi 8A will come with a waterdrop-style notch – Xiaomi calls it dot notch – like the Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3. The size is unknown, but the TENAA listing had tipped a 6.2-inch display.

Redmi 8A to come with 5,000mAh battery

Xiaomi has previously confirmed that the Redmi 8A will pack a ginormous 5,000mAh battery. For some perspective, the Redmi 7A came with a 4,000mAh battery.

Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain took to social media yesterday to confirm that the Redmi 8A is coming to India on September 25. Chances are we’re looking at a global launch here, meaning India could be the first market to get the Redmi 8A – unless Xiaomi launches it in China (or anywhere else) in the next few days.

The Redmi 8A will be a successor to the Redmi 7A – and like its successor, the Redmi 8A will also try to offer a good entry-level smartphone experience to those looking to make a switch from a feature phone.

The Redmi 7A starts at Rs 5,999 for the base variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, going all the way to Rs 6,199 for the top-end variant with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. Something similar will be expected from the Redmi 8A as well.
