Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi had announced in January that it will launch a more potent variant of the Redmi Note 7, aka the Redmi Note 7 Pro, in China after the Spring Festival (February 5). In line with the announcement, Redmi is now gearing to launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro (in China) next week – the same week that Xiaomi is gearing to launch the Redmi Note 7 in India. All this raises the possibility that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro may launch as the Redmi Note 7 in India on February 28. Of course, it’s all speculative for now, but then, you never know.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro is expected to look and feel exactly like the Redmi Note 7 but it will pack slightly better hardware. Especially in the camera department. The Redmi Note 7 Pro will also sport a 48MP primary rear camera like the Redmi Note 7, but it will come with a better sensor. While the Redmi Note 7 uses a Samsung-sourced GM1 sensor, the Redmi Note 7 Pro will come with Sony’s IMX586 – the same sensor that is also found in the Honor View 20.
The Redmi Note 7 was apparently supposed to come with the Sony IMX586 but instead Redmi had to go with the Samsung GM1 due to supply constraints.
The Redmi Note 7 is also said to be powered by an updated chipset – a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 over the Redmi Note 7’s Snapdragon 660.
The Redmi Note 7 is finally coming to India on February 28 and it will be a Flipkart-exclusive. The online retail website has already started teasing the Redmi Note 7 on its platform through a dedicated landing page, ahead of its scheduled launch. The Redmi Note 7, like all Xiaomi phones, should be also available for buying from the company’s Mi.com/in online store, as well as from offline channels like Mi Home stores.
While it isn’t exactly clear if Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro as the Redmi Note 7 in India, February 28 isn’t that far off, so we will know soon enough.
