The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 will be a Flipkart-exclusive in India. The online retail website has now started teasing the Redmi Note 7 on its platform through a dedicated landing page, ahead of its scheduled February 28 launch. The Redmi Note 7, like all Xiaomi phones, should be also available for buying from the company’s Mi.com/in online store, as well as from offline channels like Mi Home stores.
The Redmi Note 7 boasts of a fresh design language and a waterdrop-style notch and is the first phone to launch under the independent Redmi sub-brand – it isn’t exactly clear if Xiaomi will be looking to introduce Redmi as an independent sub-brand in India just yet.
The Redmi Note 7’s all-glass body is available in a choice of gradient color options including blue and red. While rumor mills have suggested that Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 7 in India in solid colors initially, and gradient colors will follow later, the Flipkart listing teases the phone’s “gradient reflective glass design” busting those rumors to an extent. Still, we will have to wait and watch out on that one.
Another big highlight of the Redmi Note 7 is its 48MP rear camera – the phone uses a Samsung-sourced GM1 sensor, that can shoot natively at 12MP only to then interpolate to 48MP. There’s also a 5MP secondary camera for depth-sensing. On the front, the Redmi Note 7 comes with a 13MP camera.
Rest of the specs are quite top-notch too, especially at its low price point. The Redmi Note 7 comes with a 6.3-inch 1080p+ display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with up to 6GB RAM and up to 64GB storage, and a 4,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
The Redmi Note 7 has been also seemingly designed to take every day wear and tear and is also water resistant to an extent (although, there is no IP-rating).
The Redmi Note 7 has been launched in China at a starting price of CNY 999 (which roughly translates to Rs 10,385) for the base version with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage going all the way to CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs 14,539) for the top-end version with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. India prices should be in line with the Redmi Note 7’s China pricing.
