Believe it or not, Kerala Police is on TikTok & seems to be taking over the app
Kerala Police has outdone itself in being relatable and accessible to the people. With the social media accounts of the state police doing extremely well on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, the police department now has a presence on popular short video app TikTok.

Kerala Police has outdone itself in being relatable and accessible to the people. With the social media accounts of the state police doing extremely well on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, the police department now has a presence on popular short video app TikTok.
The Kerala Police had won hearts on Facebook where it has the maximum likes and following. Now three days since it has joined TikTok, it has over 1.6 lakhs fans and close to 4.8 lakh hearts. It has over 8,900 followers on Twitter and over 49,000 on Instagram.
The Kerala Police describes itself in its bio, 'polite but firm' which goes with its mission statement - "Soft in Temperament, Firm in Action".
Even TikTok welcomed the Kerala Police on its platform saying its presence will help inspire millions of youth to learn from the bravery and diligence that inspire the nation.
The Twitter account of the police department also announced its arrival on TikTok. 'Kerala Police is now open on TikTok: not only on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram...."
Kerala Police's TikTok account already has posted three videos which have a cumulative of tens of lakhs of likes. It has grasped the TikTok format and style of videos - quick, funny/emotive videos usually with a message.
TikTok controversy
The Kerala Police account has been opened amid controversy over the app in India. TikTok and social media portal Helo have been under the scanner of Central and a few state governments. As per reports Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Gujarat are planning to ban both the apps. Both apps areowned by Chinese tech major Bytedance.
