Vicky Kaushal attacks Torrent in what seems like both effective and hilarious promotion for his latest release Uri: The Surgical Strike 

In what could be a hilarious and somewhat effective effort to curb piracy, the makers of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ planted what appears to be a pirated copy uploaded on Torrent but in reality, it turned out to be a 2-hour-long video content that contains a message to discourage users from indulging in content piracy.

In what could be a hilarious and somewhat effective effort to curb piracy, the makers of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ planted what appears to be a pirated copy uploaded on Torrent but in reality, it turned out to be a 2-hour-long video content that contains a message to discourage users from indulging in content piracy. Netizens falling prey to fake ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ Torrent, in fact, ended up downloading a 3.8GB video file only to get an earful on video piracy and the movie's promotional teaser on a loop. 

In their 60-second long message, actors Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam were seen urging viewers to watch ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ in a theatre instead of illegally downloading it via Torrent websites. You can watch the video below:

In India, internet piracy has been a huge issue that the film industry has been grappling with, piracy has caused filmmakers and content creators losses worth millions of rupees. All major films and TV shows released in India fall prey to internet piracy. In 2017, four people were arrested in India for illegally distributing Game of Thrones season 7 episode 4 via Torrent websites.
