Maharashtra Tourism Introduces e-Bus Services At Ajanta Caves
The Maharashtra Tourism Department has introduced a fleet of e-buses for the convenience of those looking to visit Ajanta Caves.
The Maharashtra tourism department has introduced a fleet of 20 e-buses for tourists visiting Ajanta Caves, according to an official statement on Friday.
The departure of the first electric bus took on Friday to commemorate World Tourism Day. The buses will help visitors commute from the parking lot to the cave complex.
Officials on e-bus service to Ajanta Caves
Assistant Director of the Maharashtra Tourism Department, Vijay Jadhav, told PTI, “A fleet of 20 electric buses will cater to domestic and foreign tourists visiting the world heritage site. Earlier, a conventional diesel bus was being operated, and tourists had to wait a long time for the vehicle to get full.” Later, he declared plans of a tourist-friendly booking system coming into play. "The bus service will employ 32 people. The plan is to ensure the service is available every two minutes," he said.
With the new electric buses in play, there will be no waiting time, and traveller's can experience pollution-free travel, he added.
"The fleet of 20 buses, both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned, have a carrying capacity of 14 and 22 passengers. We expect that the entire fleet will be operational by October 20. A film on the Ajanta Caves will be shown en route to give visitors an idea about the site," he mentioned.
