Viral News: An IndiGo passenger has shared his harrowing experience of having a “mini heart attack” on a flight from Delhi to Lucknow after his seat suddenly began swaying back and forth shortly after takeoff.
The video, shared by Daksh Sethi, captures him and fellow passengers in a row of seats that unexpectedly started moving.
“Mini heart attack. The first time it happened, it was a terrifying feeling, tbh. Never experienced anything like this (sic),” Sethi wrote in the caption.
Further describing the incident as “terrifying,” he stated, “The seats could literally swing back and forth.”
While he appreciated the crew’s prompt response in shifting them to vacant seats, he urged IndiGo to take strict action at the earliest.
“The crew did a good job shifting us to vacant seats at the back of the plane, only to realize later how serious the issue was. They called for the maintenance team to look into it during deboarding,” he shared.
Tagging IndiGo, he added, ”@indigo.6e please look into this at the earliest.”
Emphasizing the potential danger, he further stated, “It may not look like a serious issue, but I would not want an elderly person with a medical condition sitting on such a seat in a flying aircraft.”
In the video, Sethi compared the experience to a “free fall in a flying aircraft.”
Responding to the video, IndiGo apologized to the passenger for the discomforting experience.
"Mr. Sethi, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. We sincerely apologize for your onboard experience. Apparently, this was an anomaly (sic), a very unusual occurrence as these seats have a locking mechanism,” the airline commented on Sethi’s post.
Assuring a thorough investigation, the airline added, “Please be assured that your feedback is being taken extremely seriously, and this will be investigated thoroughly. We understand our crew responded promptly to address the situation and provided you with an alternate seat. The safety and comfort of our customers remain our top priority. We appreciate your feedback and assure you of our continued commitment to providing a safe, hassle-free, and enjoyable travel experience to all our customers.”
This is not the first time IndiGo has come under scrutiny for its services. Last month, Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar slammed IndiGo for broken seats on a Chandigarh-Delhi flight he boarded in January. Jakhar flagged the airline’s poor seating condition, further adding to concerns over IndiGo’s maintenance standards.
