Noida: Three university students planned a daring car theft to impress a friend's girlfriend. Instead of borrowing a vehicle, they decided to steal a brand new car from a showroom in Greater Noida.

Noida University Students Held Over Car Theft

The incident was reported last month, but new details and CCTV footage have recently emerged.

According to sources, Shrey, Aniket Nagar, and Deepanshu Bhati conspired to steal the car. While it remains unclear which two other students were trying to help their friend, the trio executed their plan flawlessly.

On September 26, two of the students, disguised with helmets, posed as potential buyers at a car showroom in Greater Noida. They requested a test drive of a Hyundai Venue, strategically positioning themselves near the exit gate. As the car dealer drove the vehicle out of the parking lot, the two students boarded the car. One took the driver's seat, while the other occupied the rear seat. CCTV footage captured the moment they drove away.

The Noida police later revealed that the students had forcefully thrown the car dealer out before fleeing the scene. However, after thorough analysis of all CCTV cameras near by and diligent on-the-ground investigation, the police successfully traced the accused.

The stolen Hyundai car has also been recovered. All three students have been arrested, and further investigation into the case is going on.

Recently, in September, Delhi police busted a gang of autolifters that was involved in stealing high-end vehicles in the national capital. The recovered cars were found stolen from police stations in Tilak Nagar, Vikaspuri, Punjabi Bagh, Saket, and PS Teelamod, District Ghaziabad, U.P.
