Udupi, Karnataka: A wave of outrage has swept across the social media after a horrifying video surfaced, showing a man brutally dragging a dead dog for miles behind his scooter in Shirva, a town in Udupi district.
The disturbing footage has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread condemnation and demands for stringent action against the perpetrator.
The incident, which occurred in Mallar, saw the cruel individual tied the lifeless animal to his scooter and drag it through the streets, leaving a trail of horror among the onlookers as well as netizens.
Eyewitnesses, appalled by the inhumane act, captured the incident on camera, and the video has since ignited a firestorm of anger online.
Local authorities have taken cognizance of the matter and have initiated a probe into the incident.
Shirva Police has confirmed that an FIR will be lodged against the accused under Section 11(1)(D)(F)(G) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. The police have identified and apprehended the culprit, assuring the public that stringent action will be taken against him.
Social media users have expressed their shock and disgust at the man's cruelty, calling for exemplary punishment.

In a similar incident in past a man from Jodhpur tied a rope around a dog`s neck and tied him to the car. He then drove around the city roads with the dog running behind it. The video had gone viral on social media leaving netizens furious.
