According to reports from the Korea Herald, the white SUV "rolled over sideways crashing into the sinkhole." The vehicle was carrying a woman in her 70s and a man in his 80s at the time of the accident. Both individuals were promptly rescued and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. This event comes on the heels of another terrifying sinkhole accident in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Recently, an Indian woman fell into a sinkhole while walking on a sidewalk in the city. The sinkhole, which collapsed by 26 feet, caused the woman to fall, triggering a search-and-rescue operation that is still ongoing.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced online, showing the moment the sidewalk gave way beneath the woman. A nearby man also lost his balance near the sinkhole but managed to save himself.
As both incidents highlight the dangers posed by sinkholes in urban areas, authorities in Seoul and Kuala Lumpur are under pressure to ensure the safety of their infrastructure to prevent future accidents.
