Get Your GST Number - Steps!


Why GST Registration Matters

Getting a GST number is essential for businesses exceeding the turnover threshold. It allows you to collect taxes, file returns, and operate smoothly within India’s tax system.

Step 1: Visit the GST Portal

Start the registration process by visiting the official GST portal at www.gst.gov.in. This is the government’s one-stop platform for all GST-related services.

Step 2: Create a New User Account

Create a new user account by selecting “New Registration” under the “Services” tab. Enter your legal business name, PAN, email, mobile number, and business location to proceed.

Step 3: Get Your Temporary Reference Number (TRN)

After verifying your email and mobile number, you will receive a Temporary Reference Number (TRN). Use this TRN to log in again and continue the registration process.

Step 4: Fill Out Business Details

Complete Part B of the application by providing detailed information about your business, including legal name, PAN, address, bank details, owner information, and registration type.

Step 5: Upload Required Documents

Upload all required documents, including your PAN card, Aadhaar card, business address proof, bank statement, and, if applicable, a digital signature certificate for companies and LLPs.

Step 6: Verify and Submit Application

Verify your application using an Electronic Verification Code (EVC) sent to your registered mobile and email, or use a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) for authentication.

Receive Your GSTIN and Certificate

Once your application is successfully submitted, you will receive an acknowledgment number. After verification, your GSTIN and Certificate of Registration will be sent via email.
