India-Pakistan Military Comparison: Whose Military Is More Likely To Win

Since April 22, India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty, closed the Attari Border, and revoked visas for Pakistan as retaliatory measures. 

India announced a civil defence mock drill across India on May 7, 2025, to prepare citizens amid the growing tensions.

India has 1.4 million active personnel in its defence forces– 1 lakh in the Army, 75 K in the Navy, 1.50 lakhs in the Air Force and 13 K in the Coast Guard.Pakistan has 7 lakh active personnel—5 lakh in the Army, 70K in the Air Force and 30 K in the Navy. 

India has 9,743 pieces and 3,740 main battle tanks in their artillery.Pakistan, however, has 4,619 pieces and 2,537 main battle tanks. 

India has 730 combat-capable aircraft.

Pakistan's fleet is much smaller at 452 aircraft.

The Indian Navy has 16 submarines, 11 destroyers, 16 frigates and two aircraft carriers.

The Pakistan Navy has eight submarines and 10 frigates.

India has 172 warheads, and Pakistan boasts of almost an equal number, with 170. 

The well-known war between the nations was the Indo-Pak war in 1965 and the 1971 Kargil War. Both wars have quite some significance in the history of both countries.
