Met Gala 2025: Meet The Person Who Leads It

The major fashion event occurs every May, drawing global stars to the red carpet. It supports the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. 

In 2025, the gala raised a record $31 million, the highest in its 77-year history. Seats were priced at $75,000, and tables at $350,000. Entry was by invitation only. 

The gala is led by the Vogue editor and Condé Nast executive Anna Wintour, who has overseen the event since the 1990s—the aim is to raise money to support the Costume Institute. 

Anna Wintour's net worth is about $50 million, mainly from her role at Vogue and Condé Nast. While the Met Gala doesn't directly increase her wealth, she has raised a staggering $223 million. 

TikTok, Instagram, and Louis Vuitton are the main sponsors for this year’s gala. They support the event financially and enhance its visibility, which helps brands achieve maximum publicity.

Isha Ambani walked the red carpet in a custom Anamika Khanna gown accessorised with a stunning Cartier necklace valued at $150 million. 

Sabyasachi designed a custom black suit for SRK, complemented with layered gold jewellery, a ‘K’ pendant, and an ‘SRK’ necklace. The outfit's cost is undisclosed. 

Kiara Advani wore a cape inspired by the one Talley wore to the 2010 Met Gala. Her outfit, designed by Gaurav Gupta, cost between $30,000 and $40,000. 

Diljit Dosanjh wore a traditional royal ensemble, with Gurumukhi script carved in his cape, representing India in the global event. The details of the material and detailing are not disclosed yet. 

Priyanka Chopra Jones graced the carpet in a Valentino couture gown with a blue Laguna diamond from her ambassador brand, Bulgari—the diamond alpine costs about Rs 204.5 crore.
