Timeline Of Air India-Vistara Merger


On January 27, 2022, Tata Group's flagship promoter Tata Sons announced that it had acquired a 100% stake in Air India and began preparations for merging its airline ventures

The Tata Group announced the merger of its two flagship airlines: Vistara and Air India, on November 29, 2022

By September 2023, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the merger plan

The agreement was completed on November 12, 2024, and now Tata-owned Air India operates all flights

Vistara was a collaborative establishment between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA)

Vistara was launched in 2013 as a joint venture between Tata Sons, which held a 51% stake, and Singapore Airlines, which owned the remaining 49%

Following the merger, which was expected to be completed by March 2024, Singapore Airlines  will retain a 25.1% stake in the expanded Air India group.
