PHOTOS: Bi-annual exercise 'Prasthan' ends successfully off the coast of Mumbai

Exercise Prasthan was conducted on Dec 8 by Indian Navy, IAF, Coast Guard and other agencies at ONGC platform West of Mumbai coast.

The first phase saw emergencies such as terrorist attacks & IED bomb threat besides man overboard, medical evacuation of crew and oil spill.

The 2nd phase witnessed action against contingencies such as fire in the oil platform and assisting a disabled vessel.

The Indian Navy, in conjunction with the Indian Air Force, deployed its anti-sabotage teams to neutralise security threats in the affected oil platform.

The exercise provided a realistic setting to assess preparedness of all concerned agencies to tackle these contingencies as also the procedures for co-ordinating actions among various agencies.
