Ahead of Durga Puja, artists handcraft Goddess Durga idols in New Delhi. 

An artist, Govind Nath, gives the final touches to the idol in the National Capital. 

Devotees rejoice as they take home the Goddess Durga idol for their homes and pandals. 

A procession takes place as the idol is taken to its place with devotees singing and dancing in merry. 

Local artisans prepare a variety of idols, not just of Goddess Durga, but also of other Hindu deities.

Idols are prepared and stored days before the celebrations commence. 

After giving the idol its main shape, colours and attire, a crown is attached. 

Idols of the Hindu goddess Durga are kept for transportation ahead of the Durga Puja festival in New Delhi. 

Artists mostly use natural colours to paint the idols.
