As Jack Doohan's Alpine Exit Looms, What Are The Shortest Driver Stints In Formula 1 History?

Jack Doohan's F1 career looks set to be over before it even began.

Doohan (pictured) is likely to be dropped by Alpine in favour of Franco Colapinto.

Flavio Briatore, the team's executive advisor, is the one who made the call. 

But where does Doohan's six-race stint land him in term's of shortest-ever F1 stints in history? 

Liam Lawson's Red Bull Racing stint in 2025 is the shortest - he lasted 2 races before being swapped to Racing Bulls.

Yuji Ide holds the record for the 2nd shortest stint - he lasted 4 races for Super Aguri in 2006 before his FIA superlicense was suspended after a serious collision involving Christijan Albers. 

Nicolas Kiesa is unlucky to be on this list, given the 5 races he had with Minardi in 2003 saw him perform well in limited machinery but was overlooked for the 2004 season. 

Nyck de Vries lasted only 10 races with AlphaTauri in 2023 before being dropped mid-season for Daniel Ricciardio.

India's Karun Chandok lasted 11 races with HRT in 2010 - although he's done well for himself as a commentator.
